Abstract: The United States (U.S.) accounts for more than 40 percent of world corn production and 60 percent of world corn exports. U.S. corn supply has increased by 19 percent over the past four years. During 2004, the U.S. harvested its largest corn crop ever, 11.8 billion bushels. This sizable crop was the result of a planted acreage of 80.9 million acres and almost perfect weather conditions, which resulted in U.S. corn yields averaging 146 bushels per acre.
