Abstract: While the long-term outlook for the cotton sector in the United States (U.S.) is favorable, there may still be some pain to be endured by the sector before things improve. For the time being, competition from India in the export market remains strong, the economic slowing is already reflected in decreased textile demand, crop input costs are still high and relatively attractively priced grains and oilseeds continue to eat into cotton’s acreage.
