Abstract: Production in the United States (U.S.) dairy sector continues to expand in line with investments in larger, more efficient dairy operations. While the western U.S. remains a significant milk production region, dairy farmers reinvesting in the Midwest appears to be the latest trend. Farmers are responding to the higher milk prices they received in 2007 by increasing cow numbers; however, margins are being squeezed as a result of higher input costs.
