Abstract: Agribusiness plays a key role in Chile’s economy. Between 2003 and 2006, for example, agriculture and forestry grew by an average annual rate of 7 percent, and the food industry grew by 6.7 percent; the Chilean economy as a whole, however, grew by an average annual rate of only 5.2 percent.
