Abstract: The agribusiness industry in Canada accounts for over 8 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). Farm cash receipts (FCR) grew by 1.8 percent in 2006 and reached CAD 32.4 billion, excluding farm payments, with crop sectors contributing approximately 44 percent and livestock sectors around 56 percent (see Figure 13.1).
The industry continued to grow strongly in the first half of 2007, increasing 13.8 percent over the same period in 2006.
