Abstract: A strong increase in exports since 2000 has contributed to rapid growth in the South American beef sector and there are clear indications that the region is set to continue to be the rising star of global beef production. In contrast, the European Union (EU) beef production has been decreasing during the same period, while consumption has continued to increase gradually.
