Abstract: Chile’s wine production has doubled over the past 15 years, from almost 4 million hectoliters (hl)1 in 1990 to nearly 8 million hl in 2005. During the same period the Chilean wine industry, having previously been a supplier of cheap wine for the domestic market has been successful in repositioning itself as an important supplier of good popular premium and premium wines on the export market.
