Abstract: Great changes have occurred in the structure of the US pork industry in recent years. Vertical coordination replaced an open market arrangement on an increasing scale, accompanying the industrialization trends at almost every stage of the supply chain. Market linkage between producers and processors are tighter. Information about consumption trends are being shared by all participants in the chain and becomes an important guide to product development and inventory management.
