Abstract: In July 2001, when the EU Sugar Regime was renewed until June 2006, provision was made for a mid-term review of sugar policy to be carried out in early 2003. The objective of this review was to consider the prospects for the EU sugar market beyond 2006, and to submit appropriate proposals to deal with any problems likely to arise.
