Abstract: Thailand is the world’s largest rice exporter although it is ranked as the sixth largest producer after China, India, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Vietnam, respectively. The production yield of Thai rice is lower than that of other competitors in the export market. It averages 3 tonnes per ha compared to the 6 tonnes per ha achieved by competitor countries. However, Thai rice is renowned for its quality, especially, Thai Hom Mali rice or widely known as Thai fragrant rice.
