Abstract: Located at the geographical interface of Europe and Asia, Turkey has a population of 71million, more than half of whom live in urban areas. The 2002 GDP of UDS 241 billion is divided amongst agriculture (11%), industry (30%) and services (59%). The food and beverage industry sector accounts for 10% of all manufacturing.
