Abstract: The Brazilian farmed shrimp industry is a young and interesting sector. It has been growing rapidly and steadily over the last few years. In 2003 Brazil was the sixth largest farmed shrimp producers in the world with 90,000 tones presenting a total growth in production of 1,144% over the last five years.
