Abstract: Malaysia is an attractive market for consumer food and beverage products in South East Asia. GDP growth of 6-7% forecast (by USDA) in 2005, a per capita income level of more than USD 4,600, a significantly large share (61%) of the population constituting middle and upper class and relatively low tariffs for imported products are components that offer good opportunities for growth in the market for alcoholic beverages such as spirits, beer and wine.
