Abstract: Agribusiness represents one of the more dynamic industries of Chile’s economy, with production agriculture growing in 2003 by 4.3 percent and processed food production by 6.5 percent compared with a 3.3 percent growth for the economy as a whole. The dynamism of the agribusiness industry translates into 15 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) providing jobs to 12 percent of the country’s work force.
